Four State Comic Con took place at Hager Hall in Hagerstown, Maryland on September 9-10th. I was invited by Mr. Downs Cosplay to help officiate the cosplay contest and take part in a panel with Sharon Rose Cosplay, and I was all-too-happy to help!
On Sunday, I came back in as Sinon for our panel. Granted, I wasn't planning on cosplaying after Saturday because I was tired.. but my husband said to me: "You're doing a panel, shouldn't you cosplay?" and I begrudgingly pulled on Sinon and drove myself the 30 minutes to the con from my house (which was nice). Our panel was called: Cosplay, It's About Everyone, Not Just Me! We talked about how we, as cosplayers, can support one another and foster a positive environment for new and veteran cosplayers. It was nice to speak to people and share ideas with Mr. Downs and Sharon Rose. It was my first time doing a panel. I had fun! I'm used to being in front of people, so I wasn't too nervous about that - plus I wasn't alone. Everyone seemed super receptive and had experiences to share, as well! I think the best part of this convention was making new friends! I really had a chance to speak to some people that I only had slight exposure to, and would like to think that new friendships have begun to blossom - which I"m super excited about because the are amazing cosplayers whom I can learn so much from! The next Four State Comic Con is on March 24-25, which is two days after my birthday! I'll be there with Mr. Downs again!
